CHANT -STENT

Mary Ann CHANT married Edward STENT in Adelaide in 1856. It has been told that Mary met Edward on the ship Octavia on the way out from England to Australia in 1855. As the story goes Edward was a member of the Octavia crew. He may have changed his name due to the fact that he maybe left the ship AWOL. This happened quite a lot and changing their name made it a bit harder to find them. As the ships were returning to England empty not a lot of effort went into trying to find them unless they were really shorthanded. Anyway, we may never know and the name is proving quite hard to trace back. They had 8 children.
