ARTHUR LYTTON GRAY 27/04/1878 to 29/12/1939 was the 11th and last child born to William John Best Gray and Mary Ann Gray (nee Clay).
Arthur Lytton Gray married 1902 Maria Jemima Seymour born 1849 (Mother Maria Ward and Father Samuel Francis Seymour). She passed away 26.04.1907. We are not sure if there has been a mix up here and perhaps this Maria and her Mother have been mixed up with dates, as looking at the dates that have been recorded would make Maria 29 years Arthur's senior. Being only 24 years of age when he married and Maria 53 years of age does seem a bit out of whack. Arthur then married again in 1913 Alice Ellen Cullen (Mother Margaret McKenney and Father Michael Cullen) born 1882 and she passed away January 1914. As her son Noel was born in December 1913 her death could have been related to his birth. Noel was bought up by one of Arthur's sisters, Emily Jane (Gray) Johnstone and her husband William Johnstone. Arthur then married 09.06.1922 Cora Jane Layton (nee Fleming) born 1881.. Cora was the daughter of Prosper and Margaret (nee Daniel) Fleming. She had been previously married to George S Layton in 1901. There were 3 children from Arthur and Cora, and Cora also had children from a previous marriage. Jessie I b. 1901 & Theo A Layton b. 1904. 11/12/1913 Noel Francis Gray. Died 24/05/1956. Noel married Dulcie M. Morgan. Children of Arthur and Cora:- 29/11/1921 Eric Gordon Gray. Died 19/04/2005. Eric married 1. Rita Mattingly. 2. Judy Sackson. 25/03/1923 Francis Gordon Gray. Frank married Alma May Bentley 26/05/1926 Athol Conrad Gray. Died 10/02/1981. Athol married Pearl G. Standen. Arthur ran the abattoir in Oman Ama Qld. which is situated South West of Graysholme toward Inglewood. He later had a butcher shop in Toowoomba and Eric and Frank use to deliver the meat on horseback. Frank can recall getting a big black mare from Graysholm (the Grays property between Gore and Inglewood, where the bullock trains would stop for water.) He named the horse Black Bess.
