The 2009 Digital Photo Competition

Pets

Welcome to the 2009 Digital Photograph Competition. This year the theme is "Pets" - animals you have adopted or that have adopted you.

Take a photo of your favourite pet and tell us its name and why you love that pet. Just needs to be a single sentence. Alle ntries need to have the breif explanation with them to be put up. You can also take a photo of some of the wild animals around you - one who may have adopted you. Again, it needs a brief explanation about the animals or how you took the photo (and why).

There are four prizes:

  • Junior (K - Yr 1)
  • Middle (Yr 2 - 4)
  • Senior (Yr 5 - 7)
  • Adult (any member of the community outside the classes - parents, home tutors, teachers, older brothers and sisters, etc).

The competition will run over Term 3 (July 20 - Sept 25), and then we will all vote on our favourite photos between Sept 25 and October 30. Prizes will e announced (and maybe even shown) after that.

Email all entries to:

adrian.parsons@det.wa.edu.au

Remember:

  • The explanation MUST be included with the photos.
  • You can enter as many times as you want.
  • Practise taking photos of your pet, until you are happy with one.
  • You may need to bribe your pet - offer a doggy biscuit or something.
  • Get down to your pet's level (though that may be hard if its a snake).
  • Don't be a paparazzi - try not to annoy your pet so it runs off if it sees you grab a camera.
  • Try to take an action shot - a photo of your pet doing something.

Looking forward to seeing these 'pet' photos.

Thanks to everyone who entered this year's competition. There were some great photos - in fact the Middle Division had a 3-way tie!

There will be a prize for all Winning Entries (written under the photo), and a certificate, and a Highly Commended awarded to the close second place.

There will also be a small Thank-You certificate given to all entrants (with a little gift of appreciation).

Again, thanks for your entries!
